Fleet Mechanic
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Fleet Mechanic! This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, is safety-focused, and can work both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles (diesel and gas engines)
- Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain accurate service records
- Repair or replace faulty components including brakes, engines, transmissions, cooling systems, suspensions, and electrical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and respond to emergency breakdowns
- Ensure compliance with DOT and company standards
- Keep shop area clean and organized
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and parts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred
- 2+ years of experience as a fleet or diesel mechanic (heavy-duty preferred)
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus)
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and repair manuals
- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
