Job Description
The General Laborer / Material Handler supports daily warehouse and yard operations by moving, organizing, and preparing building materials for production and delivery. This role combines physical labor, equipment handling, and close teamwork to keep materials flowing efficiently through a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will receive on-the-job training and contribute directly to building structural components used in homes, apartments, and commercial buildings.
Responsibilities
- Stack, sort, and organize lumber, panels, and other building materials according to size, grade, and production requirements.
- Pull, stage, and bundle materials accurately for customer orders and internal production lines.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, and banding tools, and use forklifts if certified, following all safety guidelines.
- Support production by feeding materials into machines, removing finished products, and keeping work areas clean and organized.
- Inspect materials for defects, damage, or incorrect sizing before stacking, bundling, or shipping to ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform general labor tasks including sweeping, cleaning, disposing of scrap, and helping maintain a safe, orderly yard and warehouse.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe lifting techniques, and timely hazard reporting.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work safely and effectively with tools, machinery, and measuring devices.
- Physical strength and stamina to regularly lift 50–75 lbs and stand, bend, and move throughout the shift.
- Ability to work as part of a team with strong communication and collaboration in a production environment.
- Strong attention to detail to follow precise measurements, instructions, and quality standards.
- Basic math skills to measure lumber, calculate lengths, and verify dimensions accurately.
- Willingness to perform general labor tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Ability to learn and follow safety procedures, including OSHA and company safety rules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in construction or carpentry.
- Background in manufacturing or assembly line work.
- Experience using power tools and hand tools.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, carts, and banding tools.
- Forklift experience or certification is helpful.
- Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble building materials components or millwork products is helpful but not required.

Work Environment
This role is based in a fast-paced, indoor manufacturing facility focused on building materials and structural components. You will work around moving machinery with regular exposure to noise and sawdust. The position requires consistent use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. The work involves frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift in a production and warehouse setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodland, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
