Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Great Barrington, MA

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (typical schedule averages 36 hours/week), every other weekend and holidays as required; on-call as needed

Candidate Pay Rate: $71.06 - $98.17 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care from admission through delivery and immediate postpartum
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, and lactation consultants to support patient birth preferences
• Perform postpartum and mother-baby assessments and deliver compassionate, individualized care
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal monitoring, and escalate concerns promptly
• Prepare and support patients for Cesarean births in the OR when needed
• Participate in emergency response and neonatal stabilization following NRP and STABLE guidelines
• Document care accurately and maintain required skills checklists and certifications
• Support families with breastfeeding education and newborn care guidance

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of current Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience
• Postpartum / Mother Baby (PP/MB) experience required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
• Active Massachusetts RN license required (must be uploaded with profile)
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Active STABLE certification required
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years
• Skills checklists for Labor & Delivery, Post Partum, and Mother Baby current to 1 year (documents required)
• Permanent address must be included in profile; candidate must have own vehicle
• Note: Client will not consider travelers within 50 miles of the facility

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - required
• Active Massachusetts RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Strong postpartum and newborn assessment skills
• Neonatal stabilization and resuscitation (NRP, STABLE)
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary teamwork
• Ability to manage labor progress, pain management options, and emergency scenarios
• Patient education and lactation support knowledge
• Accurate electronic charting and documentation skills
• Adaptability in a community hospital setting with critical access considerations
