Job Description

We are seeking a skilled welder knowledgeable in welding processes and equipment. The role involves fabricating metal products efficiently to maximize production while operating equipment safely. The ideal candidate will produce strong, smooth, non-porous, and consistent welds.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate metal products efficiently to maximize production.

• Operate welding equipment in a safe manner and report any hazards.

• Produce strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent.

• Follow required procedures and use appropriate jigs and fixtures during assembly.

• Communicate effectively with team members to manage personal workflow.

• Perform vertical, flat, and overhead welds with good penetration and quality appearance.

• Operate plasma cutter, acetylene torch, and other metal fabrication tools.

• Utilize math skills including fractions and angles for precise work.

• Work and weld in various positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead.

• Operate various shop tools including power and manually operated wrenches, fork trucks, overhead cranes, power tools, and levels.

• Adhere to assembly, materials, and accounting record-keeping practices by logging pertinent information promptly and accurately.

Essential Skills

• Mig welding experience or schooling.

• Ability to MIG weld on 1/2 and 3/4 inch plate including filet weld and butt joint.

• Ability to weld on mild and some stainless steel.

• Experience with blueprint reading.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of TIG welding is a plus but not required.

• Experience with various metal fabrication tools such as saws, drills, and plasma torch.

Work Environment

Work in a typical weld shop setting, which is a separate building from other departments. Welders have their own stations and handle their own materials. The workweek typically involves 50 hours during busy spring and fall seasons, with varied tasks ensuring no monotonous days.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Faribault, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
