Job Title: CNC Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to lead a team in a high mix, low volume environment. The role involves performing machine and job setups, operating CNC Vertical Machining Centers including 3 Axis with 4 Axis Rotary and 5 Axis Trunnion. The ideal candidate will typically run two machines during their shift, ensuring precision and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Perform job setup and operations using provided work order and part print (blueprint).
Set tool tables and align offsets to the correct setup, pulling correct tooling for jobs according to work orders.
Identify and load correct part programs into machines following work orders.
Execute both short and long production runs.
Identify correct materials from inventory locations based on work orders (materials range from 2” to 16” in size).
Perform miscellaneous tasks such as first piece inspections, quality checks, basic preventative maintenance, and workspace cleanliness.
Perform 1st piece inspections and ensure parts meet quality and specification standards as per job documentation.
Maintain accurate part counts and complete cycle time sheets.
Adhere to safety rules and company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Essential Skills
3 to 5 years of experience with CNC Controls and familiarity with Fanuc controls (16i, 18i, 200i, 31i) on Vertical Machining Centers.
Capability of holding tolerances down to 5/10,000ths.
Working knowledge of CNC machine work coordinate systems, tool length and diameter offsets.
Proficiency in G, M, and S Codes with the ability to make at-machine program edits.
Ability to read blueprints and English Work Order Instructions.
Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and test indicators.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds with available jacks and hoists when necessary.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred; Advanced Machine Skills Training is a plus.
Familiarity with shop math and problem-solving.
Experience with CNC program editing, setup, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of Solidworks and Cad/CAM is beneficial.

This position is based in a job shop environment with a workforce of under 50 employees spread over two shifts. The machine shop is older but well-maintained and updated in specific areas. The workplace offers a family-like atmosphere with responsibilities spread across multiple tasks.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr.
