What Your Day Will Look Like:

• The Blueprint Architect: You'll interpret complex drawings and verbal instructions to plan and lay out your own machining operations.
• Precision Execution: Utilize a diverse range of metals (ferrous and non-ferrous) and synthetics to fabricate high-precision parts and tooling.
• The Problem Solver: You'll perform your own shop computations for speeds, feeds, and dimensions, ensuring every cut is the most efficient cut.
• Total Quality Ownership: From initial setup to the final calibration and rework of jigs and fixtures, you are the final line of defense for quality.
• Fabrication Master: Go beyond the lathe-form, pierce, and straighten sheet metal using power brakes and punch presses to get the job done.

The Experience You Bring:

• The Foundation: High school diploma (or equivalent) and 2-4 years of "in-the-trenches" machining experience.
• Technical Fluency: A deep understanding of blueprints, routers, and the proper use of precision measuring instruments and gauges.
• Analytical Mindset: strong shop math skills and the ability to manage changing priorities with an enthusiastic, "get-it-done" attitude.
• Independence: The ability to take a complex project from a rough sketch to a finished part with minimal guidance.

salary: $52,000 - $66,000 per year shift: First work hours: 7 AM - 3:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Advanced Machining: Operate manual, NC, and computerized shop equipment to machine ferrous/non-ferrous metals, alloys, and synthetic materials.
• Technical Planning: Interpret blueprints, drawings, and verbal instructions to perform shop computations for dimensions, tooling, speeds, and feeds.
• Precision Measurement: Use a variety of precision instruments to maintain exacting dimensional tolerances.
• Tool Selection: Choose optimal cutting tools to maximize efficiency and product quality.
• Equipment Mastery: Set up and operate lathes, mills, jig borers, and grinders for diverse machining operations.
• Complex Fabrication: Create intricate parts with interrelated dimensions, compound angles, and irregular surfaces using various machine and hand tools.
• Innovation: Improvise production aids and suggest design or process improvements to enhance productivity.
• Calibration & Repair: Rework and calibrate production parts, assemblies, and tooling, ensuring component accuracy.
• Sheet Metal Work: Lay out and fabricate all gauges of sheet metal, extruded materials, and tubing using hand and power tools.
• Press Operations: Set up and operate punch presses and power brakes to form, pierce, or straighten metal components.
• Compliance & Reporting: Maintain expert knowledge of industry techniques and safety regulations; provide all required documentation and reports.

The essential functions of this role include:

wearing steel toe shoes

manual lifting up to 40lbs

standing for 8 hours at one time

working up to 5 hrs of overtime per week

Skills

machine operation (1 year of experience is preferred)

Press Operation (1 year of experience is preferred)

Blueprint Reading (1 year of experience is preferred)
