Maintenance Mechanic

EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a complex of buildings totaling approximately 350,000 square feet in Washington, DC. The Maintenance Mechanic shall assist the Lead Engineer or Maintenance Engineer with the engineering operations and mechanical/electrical maintenance of the facility under the general direction of the Lead Engineer. *** This position is contingent upon contract award. ***

Under the direction of the Lead Engineer, the Maintenance Mechanic shall:

• Assist with the operation of all building systems in a safe and efficient manner
• Assist with assigned preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance, capital alterations and utility tasks
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of the building's heating, ventilation, air conditioning and associated controls and other building mechanical equipment such as air-handling units, heat exchangers, pumps and cooling towers.
• Make minor mechanical alterations as required to the air conditioning equipment, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning controls, and other mechanical equipment.
• Attend to requests for service adjustments and other trouble calls
• Adjust, install and repair pipes, fixtures, vents and traps in plumbing systems in accordance with local codes
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment lubrication and daily inspections in accordance with a well defined program
• Institute corrective action and/or inform the Lead Engineer of any deficiencies found in the course of performing the job
• Operate and maintain fire prevention equipment sanitary equipment and domestic water equipment
• Perform minor painting as required
• Maintain sewage systems

Qualifications:

• Shall have previous experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment
• Shall have successfully completed an apprentice program and/or have graduated from an accredited trade school and be able to demonstrate practical knowledge of the tools of the trade.
• Ability to understand the French language is a plus

Compensation Range: $28.85/hr. - $33.17/hr.
