Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Assist inmates with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, mobility, and basic care needs
- Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration)
- Observe and report changes in inmate health status to nursing staff
- Assist with intake screenings and routine health checks
- Prepare inmates for medical examinations and procedures
- Support nursing staff during sick call, medication pass, and treatment activities
- Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and basic clinical procedures as directed
- Escort inmates to and from medical units as required
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical areas and equipment
- Accurately document patient observations and care activities
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIP nd correctional regulations
- Follow all safety, security, and infection control protocols
- Participate in required training and compliance activities
- Work collaboratively with correctional officers, nurses, and healthcare providers
- Adhere to all facility security procedures and professional conduct standards
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established protocols
Education & Certification
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Certification - State of New Jersey (Required)
- Experience providing direct patient care in healthcare settings
- Experience in correctional, institutional, long-term care, or similar environments preferred
- Direct patient care & ADL assistance
- Vital signs monitoring and reporting
- Infection control and safety awareness
- Correctional healthcare support
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Accurate documentation
- Ability to work effectively in a secure environment

- Certified CNA licensed in New Jersey
