As an A&P Mechanic III, you will play a key role in maintaining the airworthiness and reliability of aircraft systems. You'll perform inspections, repairs, replacements, and scheduled maintenance across critical mechanical and functional components. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong diagnostic skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety and compliance with national and international aviation standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements on aircraft components, including airframe and powerplant systems.
- Conduct functional and operational checks to ensure components meet required safety and performance standards.
- Diagnose issues using specialized tools, equipment, and technical publications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance actions in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all workspaces, hangars, and equipment remain clean, organized, and safe.
- Apply subject-matter expertise in at least one maintenance discipline:
- Airframe Maintenance
- Powerplant Mechanics
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P)
- Ability to frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs, and move through maintenance structures.
- Frequent use of hands, arms, and fingers for precision work and tool operation.
- Ability to distinguish details at various distances, perceive depth, and differentiate colors.
- Strong auditory ability to discern varying tones and volumes.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Frequent exposure to fumes, chemicals, and loud noise.
- Work in an environment requiring strict safety practices and attention to detail.
- Responsible for the safety and integrity of aircraft systems, tools, and equipment.
- Handle and inspect hazardous materials as required.
- Operate or supervise the operation of vehicles, machinery, or heavy equipment.
- Perform duties directly tied to aircraft readiness and aviation operations.
- Active, current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification with no prior violations.
- Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
- Personal tools in good working order.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to pass and maintain Class 3 physical requirements, including hearing tests.
- Strong ability to interpret technical schematics, blueprints, diagrams, manuals, and maintenance publications.
- Advanced skills in troubleshooting and repairing aircraft airframes and engines.
- Experience in FAA repair stations and/or Quality Assurance.
- Ability to travel regularly and work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime.
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
- Background in aerospace, defense, U.S. Department of Defense, or military aviation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (may be required).
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience.
- A higher-level degree may substitute for experience.
- Relevant military or industry experience may substitute for educational requirements.
