The General Laborer is responsible for supporting the paper mill's production operations by performing a variety of manual tasks, ensuring equipment cleanliness, assisting machine operators, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

• Assist in the overall operations of paper mill machinery and equipment under supervision.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished products.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, including sweeping, shoveling, and waste removal.
• Monitor production processes and report any irregularities or equipment malfunctions.
• Perform routine checks and minor maintenance tasks as directed.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support other team members and departments as needed to meet production goals.

What you need to succeed:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work 8 and/or 12-hour rotating shifts & overtime including nights, weekends & holidays.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Safety includes following safety rules and regulations, working to create and maintain good housekeeping, knowledge and use of safety equipment, active participation in safety effort, attending safety meetings, confronting others regarding safety, reporting incidents and near misses, correcting unsafe conditions.
