The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Maintenance Electrician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment in our corrugated packaging plant located in Camillus, NY. If you possess the expertise to diagnose and fix electrical and mechanical issues on large-scale production machinery, participate in preventive maintenance (PM), support continuous improvement initiatives, and follow safety regulations, we want you!

Your Impact at Smurfit Westrock:

• Maintain equipment in optimal condition through preventive maintenance and swift troubleshooting.
• Promote plant safety regulations and encourage a safety-conscious culture among employees.
• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including motors and control centers.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in complex machinery such as corrugators and printing presses.
• Troubleshoot and maintain Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
• Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations in all electrical work.
• Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety policies.
• Maintain and repair high-voltage equipment effectively.
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new production equipment.
• Work collaboratively with mechanical and hydraulic technicians to address complex operational issues.
• Engage in root cause analysis to enhance machine reliability and performance.
• Support mechanical maintenance duties to ensure consistent production uptime.

Requirements for Success:

• 3-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, ideally in manufacturing (experience with corrugated or paper industries is highly preferred).
• Strong knowledge of 480V three-phase systems and control voltages.
• Experience with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and megohmmeters.
• Competence in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to troubleshoot and program PLCs and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• A valid Electrical license or equivalent certification is advantageous.
• Willingness to work on both electrical and mechanical projects.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to perform well independently, manage time, and handle urgent repairs under pressure.
• Effective communication skills.
• A high school diploma or equivalent; a college degree or technical certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to stand, walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Willingness to work in a noisy, fast-paced industrial environment, with potential exposure to heat, dust, and chemicals.
• This position may involve off-shift work, including weekends and on-call duties to support operations.

The starting rate for this position ranges from $31.02 to $39.30 per hour, depending on your level and location.
