Metal Utility Worker
Howmet Aerospace is currently looking for a Metal Utility Worker to join our Howmet Casting located in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this Weekend Nights shift are Friday Saturday Sunday 6PM-6AM. Training will occur on Day Shift (Monday - Friday 7A - 3P) and may last several months. New Hire Starting Hourly Rate: $25.66; After 12 Months: $28.31. Position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift. Job Summary: This position will fill in gaps in labor for the hourly positions across the Metal Department. The Utility worker is responsible for performing any non-certified/unskilled hourly job. Additionally, will perform certified jobs once trained and certified.
Environmental Health & Safety Responsibilities: Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace's EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles; Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations. Wear all required personal protective equipment; Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook); Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner; Attend all EH&S training.
Job Responsibilities: Sandblast operations include: Operates sandblast, tumbling, vibratory or REM equipment to clean metal castings of scale, foreign material and discoloration to produce a smooth surface; Carter operations include: Picks up and delivers products to transport products throughout plant. Box assembly and other shipping dock duties such as preparing shipments; Etcher I Operations include: Chemically etching of parts and water-honing/ drying oven operation; Grinder Operations include: Back-stand grinding only, set-ups, calibrations and verifications of fixtures and taking quality measurements; This position may also fill in other areas as a Utility Worker (grade 6 and under) as needed based on business needs. Training will be required.
Qualifications
Other Skills/Abilities: Must pass etcher I visual exam and Level 1 certification
Basic Qualifications: Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution; No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Must be able to work flexible hours including night and weekends with little advanced notice
Physical Demands/Equipment Used: Frequent Standing, Walking and lifting of up to 25 pounds. Manufacturing environment (hot, cold, etc). Use of blast machines, grinding machines, hand tools and other manufacturing equipment
