Seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maintenance Technician to join our 2nd Shift team. If you are mechanically inclined, detail‑oriented, and thrive in a fast‑paced production environment, we want to hear from you.
Position Summary
The Tool & Die Maintenance Technician will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production tooling to ensure reliable performance and support 100% on‑time customer delivery. This role requires strong technical knowledge, hands-on machining skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Tool & Die Repair & Maintenance
Analyze, diagnose, and repair tooling issues related to quality or production performance.
Perform die maintenance and manufacture spare components following tool designs and electronically maintained timing records.
Disassemble, clean, polish, grind, weld, and reassemble dies as needed to meet specifications.
Operate mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other precision machining equipment.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules based on tool performance analysis.
Review last‑piece inspection records and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Documentation & Quality
Record all maintenance activities electronically by job and part number.
Ensure all work aligns with company and IATF 16949 quality standards.
Interpret drawings, specifications, engineering prints, and layout results with precision.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
Participate in OSHA and company safety training initiatives.
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing projects.
Maintain a clean, organized work area.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship or 2+ years of equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of tool & die manufacturing methods, machining processes, and precision measuring tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and maintenance manuals.
Skilled in English and Metric measurement systems.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and troubleshoot effectively.
Preferred Skills
Progressive stamping die repair experience.
Experience operating cranes, hoists, and other material‑handling equipment.
Welding and fabrication capabilities.
Familiarity with IATF 16949 automotive quality systems.
Work Environment
Manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and moderate to high noise levels.
Full‑time 2nd shift schedule with opportunities for overtime.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Sterling, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
