Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to laboring and postpartum patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond to changes promptly and confidently
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and the care team to deliver safe outcomes
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, and postpartum care in a clear, supportive way
• Participate in emergency response and escalation when obstetric complications arise
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and timely
• Contribute to quality improvement and unit initiatives that improve patient experience

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
• Experience or interest in Labor & Delivery (L&D); LDRP experience is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in acute obstetric care
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate family-centered care
• Comfort with working night shifts and adapting to dynamic clinical situations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care
• Comfort with maternal and fetal monitoring and documentation
• Ability to prioritize and intervene in emergent obstetric scenarios
• Patient and family education focused on birth and postpartum recovery
• Team collaboration and clear communication across disciplines
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate charting practices
