Aircraft Ordnance Systems Mechanic

This is a T32 excepted service, indefinite position. Indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years. Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered.

The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-10, is to upload and download mission munitions, organizational and intermediate level maintenance of assigned weapons, launchers, adapters, dispensers, and installed weapons release systems, and the storage, inspection, and inventory of assigned munitions. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Requirements

California National Guard membership is required: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Compatible Military Assignment and Grade are required. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position.

• Current California National Guard employees who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary appointment.
• Current California National Guard members.
• Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty.

Military Grades: E-2 through E-6

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest.

Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required.

Qualifications

General Experience: Possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components; Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications and engineering drawings; Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks.

AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-6652-10: Must have at least 18 months experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems; Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist; Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment; Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment; Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications.
