The Role We are looking for a motivated Entry-Level Welder to join our Kansas City fabrication shop. You will focus on MIG welding, metal fabrication, and reconditioning used equipment to meet "like-new" standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Welding: Perform MIG (GMAW) welding on carbon steel racks, beams, and mezzanines.
- Fabrication: Use grinders, band saws, and hand tools to cut, prep, and finish metal components.
- Reconditioning: Repair and modify used equipment to custom specifications.
- Blueprints: Read basic shop drawings and layouts to ensure accurate builds.
- Safety & QC: Inspect welds for quality and maintain a clean, OSHA-compliant workspace.
- Technical Skills: Basic MIG welding experience (Tech school or 6+ months shop experience).
- Tools: Proficiency with tape measures, grinders, and metal saws.
- Physical: Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a shop environment (non-climate controlled).
- Mindset: An "owner's mentality"-reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities
- MIG Welding: Perform standard MIG (GMAW) welding on carbon steel components.
- Reconditioning: Repairing used equipment (like pallet rack uprights or beams) by cutting out damaged sections and welding in reinforcements or new steel.
- Customization: Modifying standard inventory to meet specific customer dimensions, such as shortening beams or adding custom brackets and baseplates.
- Grinding & Finishing: Using angle grinders and sanders to smooth out welds and prep surfaces for the painting department.
- Physicality: Being able to stand for 8 hours and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Environment: Working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse/shop environment (hot in summer, cold in winter).
