As a Machine Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring product and procedure accuracy by utilizing the Plex system. Your duties will include removing slag via air gun and mallet, using a grinder, buffer, hand tools, and pneumatic tools to remove sharp edges or spatter from parts. You will perform quality inspections, prepare parts for transport, steam clean pieces, oil parts before packaging, and conduct final inspections. Your role is essential to ensuring the accuracy of products, including printing and labeling boxes/containers. You will assist machine operators with hand cranes and load products onto machines.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Plex system to determine product and procedure accuracy.

• Remove slag using an air gun and mallet.

• Use a grinder, buffer, hand tools, and pneumatic tools to remove sharp edges or spatter from parts.

• Perform quality inspections and prepare parts for transport.

• Steam clean pieces to ensure they are free from dirt and chips.

• Oil parts prior to packaging and conduct final inspections.

• Ensure the accuracy of products and print and label boxes/containers.

• Read blueprints to verify product completion accuracy.

• Assist machine operators with hand cranes and load products onto machines.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Comfortable lifting 35+ lbs.

• Strong attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with larger products.

• Production experience.

• Ability to utilize hand and power tools.

• Experience in general labor, assembly, and mechanical tasks.

Work Environment

The facility currently employs 120 people and plans to expand to three shifts. It is an older facility split into two separate buildings, characterized by its loud, dirty, and hot conditions during warm months, and cold during the winter. You will work in specific departments with a supervisor and set team. The facility includes larger areas of CNC machinery, weld booths, and racking systems. Efforts are underway to upgrade the facility. Steel-toed shoes are required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dyer, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.40 - $22.60/hr.
