Asphalt Plant & Crusher Electrician
The Asphalt Plant & Crusher Electrician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components associated with asphalt plants, crushing operations, and related industrial equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). This role supports the safe and efficient operation of plant systems by diagnosing electrical issues, maintaining control systems, and ensuring equipment reliability. The position requires the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams, and to effectively use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment. The Electrician will work with a range of systems including instrumentation (4–20 mA), motor controls, and power distribution up to 600V, including portable plant power generation systems. In addition to electrical responsibilities, this role is expected to develop a working knowledge of plant operations, including the ability to support or operate asphalt and crushing equipment as needed to maintain production and assist with overall plant maintenance.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components for asphalt plants, crushers, and associated mobile/portable equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues across a range of systems including PLCs, motor controls, instrumentation (e.g., 4–20 mA), and power distribution systems up to 600V, minimizing downtime and ensuring reliable plant operation.
- Support continuous plant operations by developing a working knowledge of asphalt plant and crushing processes, with the expectation to operate the plant when required to maintain production continuity.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on both electrical and mechanical components of plant equipment, including assisting with general plant repairs during shutdowns or as operational demands require.
- Operate heavy equipment as needed (front-end loader, skid steer, etc.) to support plant operations, maintenance activities, and material handling.
- Collaborate with plant operators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and maintain plant automation and control systems to ensure proper batching, blending, and material flow consistent with quality specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, maintenance activities, equipment performance, and downtime tracking.
- Conduct regular inspections of plant and crusher systems to identify electrical and operational deficiencies and correct unsafe or non-compliant conditions.
- Ensure full compliance with company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and environmental requirements, including active participation in hazard identification and Take 5 / Stop Work Authority practices.
- Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and truck drivers to coordinate plant activities and maintain efficient workflow.
Education
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience
Work Experience
- 5+ years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing PLC systems, electrical controls, and industrial automation equipment required.
- Experience working with asphalt plants, crushing operations, or similar industrial processing facilities preferred.
- Prior experience operating or assisting in the operation of asphalt plants, crushers, or related equipment is a plus; willingness and ability to learn plant operations required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read electrical schematic diagram s, blueprints, and use of hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
- Able to work with various voltages ranging but not limited to 4-20ma up to 600v AC and power generation on portable gear.
- Knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and technique
- See detail in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings; and picture flat drawings as 3-dimensional objects.

Physically, workers must be able to:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including frequent bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing
- Ability to use hands, arms, and legs in a full range of motion for equipment operation, tool use, and maintenance activities
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds
Additional Requirements/Skills
- Possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by understanding, supporting, and actively participating in all corporate safety initiatives
- Ability to learn and effectively use company systems, including timekeeping, maintenance tracking, and reporting tools
- Consistently adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct and maintain a high standard of professionalism
- Understand and comply with MSHA regulations and all applicable safety and environmental requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating adaptability, responsiveness, and sound decision-making under changing conditions

Base Hourly Wage Range :
Hourly: $65.00 $65.00
Pay may vary based on relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors. Collective Bargaining Agreements will govern as applicable.
