Commercial Vehicle Operator (Class B)

POSITION SUMMARY: As a Commercial Vehicle Operator with a Class B CDL, you will be responsible for the safe operation of collection trucks while delivering prompt and courteous waste removal services to our valued customers. You will ensure that your vehicle complies with the Company's safety standards before operation, adhere to all safety regulations, and complete daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) to address any defects in a timely manner.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle to verify tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are functioning properly. Report any safety concerns as per established protocols.
• Safely drive your heavy truck along assigned routes and to disposal sites; effectively read route sheets, navigate with maps, and service each customer as dictated by the route or assigned by the dispatcher/supervisor.
• Utilize manual and automatic controls as per Company safety policies for lifting, loading refuse, operating compactors, and disposing of collected materials at designated facilities.
• Maintain courteous interactions with customers, dispatchers, and co-workers to ensure timely and professional service delivery for all routes.
• Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers following departmental procedures.
• Monitor collected waste for signs of unacceptable materials continually.
• Ensure cleanliness around accidental waste spills, adhering to all applicable safety standards.
• Keep a watchful eye on the vehicle's condition to ensure operational readiness and minimize downtime; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body as necessary on each disposal trip.
• Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports in a timely manner.
• Meet departmental productivity standards to ensure that all customers receive timely and efficient service.
• Follow all necessary safety policies and procedures.
• Actively engage in the Company's ReSOP program.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
• Exhibit strong customer service skills that exceed expectations; maintain professionalism, courtesy, and cooperation towards customers and colleagues; operate with honesty and integrity.
• Demonstrate effective time management skills to complete assigned responsibilities safely and efficiently.
• Ensure consistent follow-through on work schedules and address challenges as they arise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess a Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with an air brake endorsement.
