BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair is hiring Marine Electricians to support the Norfolk Ship Repair Facility.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and or equipment.
- Maintain and sustain a safe working environment by following safety precautions.
- Ensure safe working environment by following lock-out, danger, red tag procedures and WAF requirements.
- Determine relevant drawings required for a job by reviewing job packet, locating relevant drawings and then cross-referencing with resources.
- Lay out jobs by identifying installation equipment requirements, tools and control equipment.
- Conduct rip-out of systems using hand and power tools.
- Install control and distribution apparatus, fastening in place using hand and power tools.
- Determine cable paths to equipment aboard ships using blueprints.
- Install electrical and electronic circuits by following cabling/wiring electrical schematics and pulling cable through designated conduits.
- Mark all circuitry work by ensuring cabling is correctly identified and tagged appropriately.
- Install electrical equipment by connecting power and control cables between various types of equipment.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Candidate for the Maritime Solutions Norfolk Hiring Events.
- Graduate or current student from BAE Systems Trade School Partnership Program.
- Minimum education requirements: High school diploma/GED.
- Minimum relevant experience: 1-2 years.
- Working knowledge of Shipboard Electrical Systems, installations, troubleshooting procedures and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret work specifications, technical drawings, military specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items.
- Ability to work individually as well as in a team setting.
- Ability to carry a tool bag weight 20-30 pounds.
- Ability to enter and exit a standard horizontal and vertical manhole.
- Ability to work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to climb vertical or inclined ladders.
- Ability to stand, sit, push/pull and stoop.
- Ability to work in a kneeling position, crawling or work with body bent over at the waist.
- Ability to work with arms extended at shoulder level and above tool bag weight 20-30 pounds.
Pay Information: This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
