Summary
Join our team as a Submarine Welder, where you will work closely with the Manufacturing/Tooling Engineering department to streamline the production of essential parts. Under the guidance of the tooling supervisor, your contributions will be vital in meeting production schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Fulfill tooling orders daily to support manufacturing and tooling department objectives, including tool refurbishment and repair, unit tool deliveries, and internal tool coordination.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of departmental goals and projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
- Demonstrate proficiency with the inner shield wire welder.
- Possess knowledge of preheating and post-heating processes for dies.
- Set up and operate automatic welding positioners effectively.
- Maintain welder cables and wire feed systems.
- Interpret blueprints accurately.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are necessary:
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- At least one year of experience in welding, tooling, or a related field.
- A valid Forklift Operator's certificate is required.
- This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility verification will be conducted at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group settings.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Capability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Skill in addressing problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.
Physical Demands
This role requires the employee to regularly stand, walk quickly, handle materials, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively in a loud and hot environment. Frequent stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be necessary, along with climbing onto equipment. Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly, with specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics exposed to employees include moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and vibrations is typical. Note that the noise level is generally loud.
Pay
The hourly rate for this position is between $23 - $25, with exact compensation varying based on skills, experience, and location.
