Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Controls Electrician to join our energetic team at our corrugated packaging plant. In this role, you will ensure optimal functioning of all equipment, adhering to OEM standards, while collaborating with maintenance leadership, operators, vendors, and our corporate reliability team to maximize uptime and fulfill our production objectives safely. Please note that this is a non-union facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and practices.
- Conduct troubleshooting, support, and maintenance for electrical and automation controls in our dynamic corrugated packaging facility.
- Analyze plant metrics and equipment data to identify areas for continuous improvement, leading initiatives to implement effective solutions.
- Perform emergency breakdown maintenance as required to support plant operations.
- Oversee regular preventive maintenance activities, including lubrication, wear measurement, repositioning components, and monitoring operations for unusual vibrations and noise levels.
Qualifications for Success:
- Proficiency in PLC, VFD, and HMI/OIT software, with a proven track record of troubleshooting and repairing electrical control systems, mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, and control networks.
- The ability to reference and interpret equipment manuals and related literature effectively.
- Strong understanding of precision maintenance methodologies.
- A commitment to maintaining clean and organized work areas throughout daily tasks.
- Experience operating forklifts, hoists, and heavy machinery as needed.
- Master-level capability to consult equipment manuals and technical literature.
- Extensive knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and JDE or similar platforms.
- Understanding of the 5S methodology.
- Ability to provide mentorship and training to fellow automation technicians.
- A flexible approach by being ready to assist with all maintenance tasks as workload allows.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience and training.
- Three or more years’ experience in troubleshooting automation, robotics, or similar fields with large industrial equipment.
- Excellent communication and team-building skills; must value mentorship and teamwork.
- Previous experience in the corrugated packaging industry or similar high-volume, no-redundancy manufacturing environments.
The starting hourly rate for this position is between $40-$45, commensurate with role, level, and location. Employees receive 10 days of paid vacation and 11 paid holidays per year, subject to annual changes.
