Pipe Welder
We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder with expertise in multi-pass, all positions fillet, and butt welds using the SMAW process. The ideal candidate will have the ability to fuse inserts and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe using both SMAW and GTAW processes, as well as mirror weld using these methods. A strong understanding of OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry is essential.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications, cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
- Properly use fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six inch scale.
- Pass computer-based training modules.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in SMAW and TIG welding processes.
- Experience with carbon and stainless steel welding.
- Ability to use oxygen/propane heating torch.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations in the shipbuilding industry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 2-5 years' TIG, STICK pipe welding experience.
- Three years of experience with various techniques including electric, gas, arc, or other equipment.
- Must pass SMAW 6 inch weld test.

Work Environment
You will be working on various construction jobs throughout Hampton Roads, including the Ameresco project in Norfolk. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 4 PM, with occasional Saturdays.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
