Physical Requirements
- The ability to perform the duties and responsibility of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations for disabilities.
- The ability to consistently lift, push or pull loads of up to fifty (50) pounds. (Unless nursing 50)
- Sufficient strength, mobility and stamina to make frequent location and position changes, assist with patient care, and perform other physical activities of average difficulty.

Responsibilities
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Administers medications in accordance with hospital policies; Demonstrates knowledge of medications administered to include normal dosages, side effects and expected out comes; Documents according to policy using electronic medication administration and bar-coding; Utilizes tools and resources to supplement knowledge.
- Adheres to Standards and recommended practices for specific nursing service area(s).
- Delivers care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures; Implements care practices such as Infection control procedures, care planning, safety measures, etc.
- Understands that attendance affects team morale and confidence. Demonstrates reliability and punctuality in regard to attendance. Consistently is present and ready to begin work activities at start of shift, stays within established break periods, arrives on time for meetings and leaves work area promptly at the conclusion of the shift to reduce potential distractions. Schedules personal appointments or requests adjustment to schedule with least amount of disruption to service delivery. Provides prompt notice for unexpected absences.

Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited program of nursing
- Associate's degree in nursing
- Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Master's degree in nursing
- Preferred
- Two (2) or more years of experience in nursing
Required
- All Units:
- Registered Nurse (RN), with Authorization to Practice in the State of Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required with ninety (90) days of start date
- Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) Certification required within six (6) months of start date
- Breastfeeding Education:
- Texas 10 Step required within ninety (90) days of start date
- Basic Breastfeeding Class required within one (1) year of start date
- Advanced Breastfeeding Class required within one (2) year of start date
- Labor and Delivery (in addition to the above)
- Required within one (1) year of start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- Basic Fetal Monitoring
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Required within one (1) year of start date
- NICU (in addition to the above)
- STABLE Certification required within one (1) year of start date
- Pediatrics (in addition to the above)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one (1) year of start date
- Relevant national certification
- Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) Certification for relevant units
