Assembly Mechanic
The Assembly Mechanic installs manufactured kits and components onto new heavy equipment, following detailed instructions and technical documentation to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality builds. This role involves mechanical assembly, basic electrical and hydraulic work, and the use of a variety of hand, power, and air tools in a clean and organized production environment.
Responsibilities
- Install manufactured kits and components onto new heavy equipment according to specifications.
- Follow detailed written and verbal work instructions to complete assembly tasks accurately.
- Torque bolts, hydraulic hoses, and fittings to manufacturer specifications using appropriate torque tools.
- Use hand tools, power tools, air tools, and measuring tools safely and efficiently during assembly work.
- Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, schematics, installation procedures, and equipment documentation.
- Work from multiple plans and processes to build parts and kits on equipment.
- Perform mechanical assembly, including basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic connections and adjustments.
- Carry out work in tight areas, under equipment, or on ladders and platforms as required by the job.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
- Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects on time and to quality standards.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience in mechanical assembly, equipment repair, automotive, diesel, truck equipment, or similar fields.
- Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions clearly and accurately.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, diagrams, schematics, and installation procedures.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, air tools, and measuring tools in a production environment.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, including moving parts and assemblies.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and connections related to equipment assembly.
- Basic understanding of hydraulic systems, hoses, fittings, and fluid connections.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of regular job duties.
- Ability to work in physically demanding positions, including tight spaces, under equipment, and on ladders or platforms.
- Ability to work with manual and powered tools safely, following established safety practices.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with mechanical assembly in automotive, diesel, truck equipment, or heavy equipment environments.
- Familiarity with torque tools and applying correct torque values to fasteners and hydraulic components.
- Experience reading and working from multiple plans and processes to build complex parts or kits.
- Exposure to repair work on mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members in a production or shop setting.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Trussville, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $29.00/hr.
