Senior Maintenance Technician
An established food manufacturing company in the Fort Atkinson area is seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Technician to join its second-shift maintenance team. This senior-level position is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance improvements, and technical leadership within the maintenance department. The successful candidate will help maximize equipment uptime while mentoring maintenance technicians and driving continuous improvement throughout the facility. The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $38.00 and $42.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Additional compensation includes weekly pay, overtime paid after 8 hours worked per day, overtime on Saturdays, double-time pay on Sundays, and a shift premium included.
This position requires a consistent Monday–Saturday schedule. The maintenance team regularly works 6–7 days per week, depending on production demands, maintenance priorities, and plant needs. During major maintenance projects, shutdowns, or increased production demands, employees may be required to work Sundays. Employees are paid weekly. Overtime is paid after 8 hours worked in a day. Saturday work is paid at overtime rates. Sunday work is paid at double-time rates.
Essential duties and responsibilities include leading advanced troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment; serving as the primary technical resource for difficult or recurring equipment failures; performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term corrective actions that improve equipment reliability; evaluating, optimizing, and improving preventive and predictive maintenance programs; maintaining accurate maintenance documentation and work orders within the CMMS system; mentoring maintenance technicians by sharing troubleshooting techniques, technical knowledge, and best practices; partnering with maintenance leadership, planners, supervisors, and production personnel to prioritize maintenance activities and planned shutdowns; maintaining safe work practices while supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility; and assisting with additional maintenance projects as assigned.
Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, demonstrated success troubleshooting complex manufacturing equipment, strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, plumbing, machine tools, and reading electrical/mechanical schematics, experience developing and improving preventive and predictive maintenance programs, strong root cause analysis and equipment reliability experience, excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while providing technical leadership.
Preferred qualifications include food manufacturing experience, experience utilizing CMMS software, previous maintenance leadership or mentoring experience, experience supporting equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
