Position Title: Open Table Structural Fitter
Wage: $32.00 - $39.00/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6:30am - 2:30pm
We are seeking a skilled Open Table Structural Fitter to join our dynamic team in Oak Creek, WI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fitting, assembling, and welding structural steel components and assemblies on open tables according to engineering drawings, specifications, and safety standards. This is a hands-on position, requiring excellent technical knowledge, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Open Table Structural Fitter Responsibilities:
- Fit and assemble steel components, beams, plates, and other structural elements, ensuring accurate dimensions and alignment according to engineering drawings and specifications
- Perform welding tasks on structural steel components, including both MIG and TIG welding, to ensure a high-quality finished product
- Read and interpret technical blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to determine the appropriate fitting and welding procedures
- Inspect finished work for proper alignment, dimensions, and quality, ensuring all products meet internal and customer quality standards
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment, including wearing proper PPE, maintaining a clean workspace, and participating in safety training
- Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other fitters to ensure projects are completed on time and within specification
- Maintain and care for tools and equipment used in the fitting and fabrication process to ensure proper operation and longevity
Requirements for Open Table Structural Fitter:
- At least three years of experience as a structural fitter or in a similar welding and fabrication role in a steel manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in the use of welding equipment, measuring tools, and machinery for structural steel fitting and welding
- Welding certifications (e.g., AWS or equivalent) are preferred but not mandatory
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, structural components, and blueprint interpretation
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods, and work in various physical conditions
- Ability to focus on precision and quality while working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with open table fitting and welding techniques preferred
- Familiarity with fabrication tools such as grinders, cutting torches, and plasma cutters is a plus
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in problem-solving situations
