General Laborer - 1st Shift

General Laborer

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Laborer to join our Production team at our recycling facility. In this role, you will support day-to-day operations by safely and efficiently processing organic waste used to produce renewable natural gas. This position involves directing transportation vehicles, inspecting and preparing incoming loads, and operating heavy equipment to handle both liquid and solid organic waste materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Support routine plant operations by assisting with material handling, equipment monitoring, and general workflow activities.
• Unload organic waste materials and perform depalletizing, unpackaging, and sorting tasks as needed.
• Inspect incoming loads and separate organic materials from contaminants in accordance with company procedures.
• Perform general facility maintenance, including sweeping, cleaning, power-washing, painting, and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
• Conduct basic equipment maintenance and promptly identify and report any mechanical or safety issues to appropriate personnel.
• Adhere to all company safety guidelines and maintain proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Provide support to machine operators, maintenance technicians, customers, and other team members as needed.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by supervisors or management to maintain smooth and efficient facility operations.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Experience in receiving, shipping, and warehouse distribution.
• Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
• Hands-on experience in packing, loading, cleaning, material handling, and basic machine operation.
• Experience in general labor, production, or packaging.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or industrial environments.
• Basic understanding of standard safety procedures and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with basic hand tools.
• Effective communication skills and a strong ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM

This is a Contract position based out of Jessup, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
