Job Title: Junior Mechanic Job Description

As a Junior Mechanic, you will be responsible for the setup and operation of filling, labeling, and coding equipment, ensuring seamless production processes. You will conduct line clearance, verify component matches, and authorize lines for production, while also operating and monitoring automatic filling line modules.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete setup and changeovers on filling, labeling, and coding equipment.

• Install tooling, adjust guides/nozzles, mount film/label rolls, configure print files, and set sensor positions.

• Conduct line clearance and verify all components match batch startup checklists.

• Authorize the line for production.

• Operate and monitor filling, capping, crimping, and in-line labeling modules.

• Make mechanical and electronic adjustments to maintain speed and product quality.

• Address line stoppages and escalate larger issues when necessary.

• Respond quickly to alarms and error codes.

• Log production data including output, downtime, and machine settings.

• Coordinate with maintenance if technical issues exceed operator scope.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating multi-equipment packaging or filling lines.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform changeovers and troubleshooting.

• Understanding of GMP, quality checks, and production standards.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with labeling equipment setup, calibration, and adjustment.

• Ability to resolve jams or skew issues in label application.

• Proficiency in configuring size changeovers, wrap systems, and touchscreen settings.

• Capability to ensure consistent label placement and correct product codes.

• Experience with packet machines setup and monitoring pouch quality.

• Ability to troubleshoot sealing, feeding, or misalignment issues.

• Experience with semi-automatic filling line preparation and adjustment.

• Supervisory skills to maintain accuracy and consistency with manual operators.

• Experience with coding equipment and maintaining printhead cleanliness.

• Ability to adjust print positioning, timing, and ensure clear, compliant coding.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainfield, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
