Industrial Painter / Powder Coater

Location: Union, NJ
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Painter with hands-on powder coating experience to support finishing operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has experience preparing, coating, and curing metal components, understands quality and thickness requirements, and works with a high level of detail and consistency.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare parts and surfaces for painting (cleaning, sanding, masking, blasting, etc.)
Apply powder coatings to metal components using electrostatic spray equipment
Operate curing ovens and verify proper bake times / temperatures
Mix, match, and adjust coatings as needed to meet specifications
Inspect finished parts for coating quality, thickness, and coverage
Follow safety protocols for paint materials, ventilation, and equipment
Maintain spray booths, ovens, and coating equipment in good working order
Track production runs and complete basic documentation / work orders
Assist with setup and teardown of paint line as needed

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in industrial painting or powder coating
Knowledge of surface preparation methods and coating thickness standards
Experience with electrostatic powder coating equipment
Ability to read and follow work instructions / basic production specs
Strong attention to detail and quality standards
Ability to lift/move parts as needed (up to 50 lbs)
Safety-focused mindset and familiarity with PPE requirements

Preferred Skills

Experience with both batch and conveyor-style coating systems
Familiarity with metal fabrication or manufacturing environments
Ability to perform minor equipment adjustments or maintenance
Knowledge of different powder types and cure profiles

Schedule & Work Environment

Monday - Friday schedule (with potential overtime based on production demand)
Indoor manufacturing / shop environment
Hands-on role working with metal parts and finishing equipment
