Painter Prep/Sandblaster

Location: Bridgeman, MI

Position Type: Full-Time, Evaluation Hire

Pay/Salary: $18.00 per hour

Responsibilities/Duties

Perform paint prep duties using air-powered sandblasting equipment, grinder, needle-guns, and other powered and hand tools. Abrade surfaces of metal to remove adhering scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, dirt, etc. to prepare for paint application.
Inspects item to be painted for proper welds. Removes weld spatter, over-poured refractory, excess weld, sharp edges, and burrs using a variety of tools including a wire wheel, air chisel, electric grinder, or file.

Disassemble paint and sandblasting equipment and clean equipment using proper solvents and manufacturer prescribed methods.
Operate and/or use related equipment and tools which may include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable and bench), hand tools, and a tape measure.

Qualifications

Must be dependable, open to changes and new ideas, adaptable to new situations and challenges, and use time wisely. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
The ability to satisfactorily work alone, and willingness to work with others respectfully and professionally in a team environment, with reasonable instructions, training, and supervision.
The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice inconsistencies/faults in parts, equipment, or production processes to prevent faulty products leaving the facility.
