Job Title: Forklift Mechanic (No Travel)

Job Description

The forklift mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining forklifts and other material-handling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role supports warehouse, distribution, and industrial operations by minimizing equipment downtime and keeping fleets in top working condition.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on electric, propane, diesel, and gasoline-powered forklifts, including hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.

• Conduct routine preventive maintenance, such as fluid changes, lubrication, battery care, brake adjustments, and safety inspections.

• Repair or replace components including engines, transmissions, masts, forks, lift cylinders, steering systems, and electrical wiring.

• Use diagnostic tools and service software to identify faults and verify repairs.

• Document all work performed, including parts used, labor time, and inspection results.

• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform on-site repairs when needed.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

• Communicate equipment status and repair recommendations to supervisors, operators, and fleet managers.

• Order and track parts as needed to complete repairs efficiently.

Essential Skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lift-truck service software.

• Experience with battery-powered and internal combustion forklifts.

• Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

• Valid driver's license; forklift certification is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or trade school preferred.

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in tight or elevated spaces.

• Previous work as a forklift, heavy equipment, or automotive mechanic.

• Experience with brands such as Toyota, Crown, Hyster-Yale, or Komatsu.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $90000.00/yr.
