JOB SUMMARY
The Machine Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating standard metal fabrication equipment—including saws, shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses—in accordance with established quality and production standards. This position may also support various fabrication cells as needed.
Days: Monday - Friday 6:00A - 2:00P
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review shop operation packets and engineering drawings to ensure incoming material is correct and follows the scheduled sequence.
- Set up tools, machines, and equipment, making necessary adjustments based on production specifications and/or Group Leader instruction.
- Inspect and dimensionally verify production output to ensure compliance with in‑process inspection requirements.
- Use properly calibrated precision measuring instruments during inspections.
- Report operating or material issues that may impact production quality or quantity to the Group Leader.
- Perform routine operator maintenance and equipment checks according to TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) procedures.
- Segregate and properly dispose of non‑conforming material in designated areas.
- Lift and move materials up to 75 lbs as required.
- Perform physical motions essential to the job, including standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.
- Operate pallet jacks to move materials within or out of the department.
- Use hand tools to perform surface grinding and finishing.
- Perform other work based on skills and availability when primary duties are not required.
- Work safely at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate production records in the appropriate company format.
- Keep work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and well‑maintained.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Ability to read and write in order to follow written instructions and complete job‑related documentation.
- One year of previous experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Familiarity with metric blueprint dimensioning preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
This Warwick, RI facility is an ITAR‑controlled site. All candidates must meet the definition of a “U.S. Person” as designated by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 (e.g., U.S. citizen, permanent resident).
