Industrial Electrician

Responsibilities

Join Howmet Aerospace, a leader in investment casting for jet aircraft and industrial gas turbines, and be part of a dedicated team that manufactures high-tech products safely and efficiently. We are seeking enthusiastic Electricians to help grow our Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) group in Hampton, Virginia.

Available shifts are:

• 1st shift : M-F 7am-3pm
• 2nd shift : M-F 3pm-11pm
• 3rd shift : M-F 11pm-7am
• Weekend shift : F-Sun 7am-7pm

New hire starting rate: $39.02 p/hr. with a $1.00 p/hr. shift premium for off shifts.

Job Summary:

The Electrician will install and repair electrical systems and electronic components of our industrial machinery and equipment.

Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret printed work instructions and electrical schematics.
• Record necessary data manually or via computer.
• Implement Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures to ensure zero energy state.
• Install conduits and field wiring for electrical systems.
• Connect power supply wires to machinery and equipment, linking cables between different machines and subcomponents.
• Diagnose and fix malfunctioning electrical apparatus, replacing any damaged components.
• Test machinery and work collaboratively with maintenance personnel to identify root causes of malfunctions.
• Effectively use troubleshooting devices such as ammeters, voltmeters, and thermal scanners.
• Replace faulty electrical parts, including relays and motors, and ensure proper circuit engagement.
• Plan installation layouts for wiring and electrical apparatus in facilities.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of equipment.
• Comply with attendance guidelines and be open to occasional overtime as needed.
• Undertake any additional duties approved by supervisory leadership.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Resume and two professional references are required for application.
• Minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent from a technical school.
• At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience with electrical systems.
• Willingness to work any shift based on operational needs; flexibility is essential.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States; employment verification will be required at hire.
• Access to export-controlled items is a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• State of Virginia Maintenance/Contractor Journeyman Certification.
