Ready Mix Plant Maintenance Mechanic
The ready-mix concrete plant maintenance role is instrumental in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting the plant's mechanical systems and equipment. This position works closely with a team of coworkers and supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Properly following all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Reporting any problems to your manager.
- Following directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project.
- Repairing all components involved ready mix processing equipment.
- Maintaining and operating field service truck.
- Following proper lockout/tag out procedures.
- Working on projects with company maintenance crew and contractors.
- Providing basic tools for welding and fabrication/hand tools for millwright work.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to work weekends.
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical.
- Able to present valid documentation to meet I-9 employment eligibility verification requirements.
- Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
- Arrive for work promptly at the assigned start time.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Be able to work overtime when required.
- Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
- Must be at least 18 years old due to the requirements of the working environment.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- 2 years' related experience is preferred.
Certifications:
- Must have a valid driver's license (CDL is a plus).
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
